CHURCHY Words & Phrases Explained

I don't know about you, but I hate being in any setting where I feel I have no idea what the speaker is talking about (for me that was always symbolic literature!) I am a curious learner and will ask or research to find answers, but I also know how we can begin to repeat words we have heard, but not have a clear way to communicate it to help others.
​I wanted to SIMPLIFY some of those 'CHURCHY' words for us all. Of course this isn't all, but some I knew were popular. If you think of more, list them in the comments or let me know you would like it added! :) 

BELIEVER- Someone who has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord
​BORN AGAIN- Describing what takes place when one accepts Jesus Christ. Becoming 're-born" spiritually. Escaping spiritual death as they receive Eternal Life now.
​CHURCH- NOT the building, but the collective body of believers worldwide
​CONVICTION- genuine feeling of sorrow, guilt & remorse after committing a sin(wrongdoing) because they are aware of going against God's way.
​DOCTRINE- Cornerstones of the Christian belief
​FLESH- Refers to our inborn human, and sinful, nature and tendencies
​GOSPEL- the GOOD NEWS of salvation. Explanation of how one can be saved or 'Born Again" as explained above.
​GRACE- The UNDESERVED FAVOR, forgiveness and acceptance from God through our acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord.
​HOLY SPIRIT- ONE of the distinct, powerful personalities of the GOD. Convicts, leads, and helps us grow in faith after we become a believer.
​JUDGEMENT- Refers to God's divine judgement at the end of time. Each person will stand before God & be found GUILTY or INNOCENT based upon the rejection or acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord of their personal life.
PRAYER- Conversation with God
​REDEMPTION- The price Jesus paid for the sins of us all.
​REPENT- "TO CHANGE YOUR DIRECTION". To turn away from the things that displease God & start doing the things that please Him.
​RESURRECTION- When Christ rose from the dead the third day after his crucifixion, breaking the power of death. This act completes the act of salvation. NO OTHER 'god' has been resurrected!
​SIN- (verb)"Miss the mark", or fall short of God's level of perfection; to break God's commands.   (noun) The ONE THING that separates us from a relationship with God.
​TESTIMONY- The story of how you came into relationship with Jesus Christ. Also an account of what God has been doing in your life.
​TRINITY- The three persons who make up the GODhead: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit.  see more on TRINITY HERE
​WALK- or journey of faith. Describes your daily relationship with God. Description of your spiritual growth or progress.
​WORD- refers to God's word to us which is the BIBLE
​WORLD- as in 'the world' or 'worldy'- present condition of human society that are in opposition to God and the ways He would have us live.
​WORSHIP- sincere expression of reverence and devotion to God. Worship can be singing praises, praying, meditating on God's Word.
